The Shura Council participated in a meeting on parliamentary action to support disarmament for sustainable development. The meet was organised by a number of parliamentary groups, with the support of the United Nations Office of Disarmament Affairs (UNODA), via video conferencing.
Discussions during the meeting centred on effective parliamentary actions regarding disarmament to save humanity and for sustainable development, as well as the impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic on disarmament and security policy.
The Shura Council was represented at the meeting by its Rapporteur HE Abdulla bin Fahad bin Ghorab Al Marri.
The Shura Council also participated in a parliamentary conference titled ‘Countering Terrorism in the Context of the COVID-19 Pandemic’, within the framework of the partnership among the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM), the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE PA) and the United Nations Office for Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT), which was held via video conferencing technology. The Shura Council was represented at the conference by HE Dahlan bin Jamaan Al Hamad. (QNA)
