The Shura Council has recommended amending five articles in the draft law for regulating the press, publications, publishing, media activities and the arts and approved it as amended.
The Shura Council, chaired by Speaker HE Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud, on Monday met to discuss the draft law by the Joint Committee formed by the Legal and Legislative Affairs Committee and the Information and Cultural Affairs Committee on the draft law. The draft law has 74 articles distributed in 12 chapters. It includes provisions related to the regulation of the press, media, publishing houses, circulation and distribution of publications, cinemas and theaters, artistic production, private broadcasting stations, advertising and public relations activities and media services offices.
