THE Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has approved a package of new humanitarian projects for thousands of Palestinians in the West Bank and Jerusalem, QRCS has announced. Funded by the QRCS, the projects will be implemented this year by its representative office in Palestine.
The QRCS stated that one of these projects with a budget of $250,000 aims to purchase and modernise medical devices in Al-Makassed Islamic Charitable Society Hospital and is expected to benefit 8,500 patients
annually.
Another project worth $117,000 will facilitate purchase of medicines for cancer patients in Al Mutlaa Hospital. The project will cover the needs of 4,000 patients
annually.
In another field, the QRCS will support the capabilities of its Palestinian counterpart by purchasing 13 medical devices to examine vital signs for patients, and supply its stores and warehouses with medicines and medical consumables worth $40,000, in order to enhance its efforts to deal with coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic across Palestinian governorates.
Two well-equipped ambulances will be purchased for the Palestinian Red Crescent’s Ambulance and Emergency Centre while the QRCS will also meet its operating cost for initial six months estimated at $183,000. The number of direct beneficiaries of ambulance services is estimated at 4,800.
The QRCS has implemented 45 projects in the West Bank and Jerusalem during the past decade, including health, relief, development and economic projects. About 840,000 people benefited from these projects worth around $6 million equivalent to about QR22 million.
