As many as 20 people, who lost one of their eyes due to direct injuries, benefited from the prosthetic eye project implemented by Qatar Charity (QC) in coordination with the Ministry of Social Development and organisations specialised in rehabilitating the visually impaired in the Gaza Strip.
The project contributed to easing the economic burdens on the families of the visually impaired, while providing them with glass eyes to improve the aesthetic appearance of their faces as they were unable to purchase and install the prosthetic.
The beneficiaries of the project were also trained to take care of the glass eye by the manufacturer.
The beneficiaries expressed their delight at getting prosthetic eyes installed. “I am very excited to see the reaction of my child and my husband, who are waiting for me outside the examination room,” said a female beneficiary of the project while she was looking at herself in the mirror.
“I used to feel shy while walking down the street due to the deformity in my face caused by lose of my eye, but now I am ready to go outside without feeling shy,” she
added.
