QatarDebate Center, a member of Qatar Foundation (QF), recently organised a five-day ‘Efficient Academy’ in Kuwait, which featured 30 participants from various career backgrounds.
“This training academy was set up in the backdrop of the worldwide spread of COVID-19. But, the pandemic failed to diminish the strong will of the participants, their desire to continue building capacities, and their willingness to take part in the next season of debates,” said a press statement from QatarDebate.
The academy aimed to prepare young cadres to manage the activities and programmes of the National Debate Team in Kuwait, provide them with general knowledge of the important elements of organising debates, assist them in organising their tasks and roles to ensure success of the activities, and train them to assess and improve the programmes.
Farah Al Harbi, head of Public Relations and Responsible for the Supporting Committee of the Academy Administration-Kuwait, said: “The academy saw a remarkable turnout, as the number of students enrolled for the event exceeded 70. Out of them, 30 were selected for training based on the admissions criteria. The participants included teachers, engineers and other employees with ages ranging from 16 to 36 years.”
QatarDebate Coach Thaer Farahat led the intensive workshops which dealt with the theoretical and practical sides of debating. A final presentation was also drafted, which was evaluated based on the observations by the trainer and the Academy Support Committee, in which QatarDebate ambassadors from Kuwait Fahad Al Subaie and Bader Al Shatti also participated.
The academy has shown that, with the expertise, experience and commitment that are characteristic of the members, they are able to persevere and adapt to international trends, capacity building and talent investment, added the statement from
QatarDebate.
