The novel coronavirus pandemic may have forced people to stay apart but digital platforms and social media are helping them to stay connected with various activities.
YouTube channel #Meetwithrana, hosted by Qatar-based prominent influencer and literary figure Anwar Ali Rana, is one such platform that has been organising a slew of programmes.
To mark Eid Al-Fitr while maintaining social distancing, the channel organised various events for children and adults. The programmes included Eid with Kids, Eid with Friends, and Urdu and Haryanvi mushaira and live music show.
On the first day of Eid Al-Fitr, prominent Pakistani Dr Tariq Masood shared his success story of education journey with children.
Mala Waseem congratulated the participants of Eid card designing contest, which gave a chance to unleash the artist within children.
An online Urdu mushaira was conducted on the second day of Eid, in which poets from Qatar and the UK took part and recited their works. Senior poet Asif Shafi presided over the session. Sajid Mehmood Rana and Mannan Qadeer Mannan participated from the UK while the participants from Qatar included Qaisar Masood, Tahir Jamil, Sanwal Abbasi and Javaid Bhatti.
The event was the first virtual experience for many Urdu poets. People enjoyed the mushaira from the comfort of their homes. The online event allowed Urdu poetry lovers from all over the world to join in the mushaira.
Faraz Ali Khan, a young singer from Pakistan, regaled the audiences with popular songs and also presented songs of their choice.
