LONDON: Britain will require passengers to wear masks or other face coverings on public transport from June 15 to curb the spread of coronavirus, Transport Secretary Grant Shapps said on Thursday, a move that a trade union said was “long overdue.”
Shapps said the requirement formed part of the government’s plan “to ensure every precaution is taken, on buses, trains, aircraft and ferries,” as Britain increases services while easing its lockdown this month.
“A face covering helps protect our fellow passengers. It is something that we can each do to help each other,” he said. (AFP)
