beIN MEDIA GROUP, the global sports and entertainment group, and INDYCAR on Wednesday announced a multi-year media rights agreement that will see beIN SPORTS broadcast exclusively the NTT INDYCAR SERIES 2020 and 2021 across 24 Middle East and North Africa (MENA) territories.
Founded in 1994, INDYCAR acts as the sanctioning body for the NTT INDYCAR SERIES and offers the most diverse motorsport challenges to its international line-up of drivers, such as Scott Dixon (five-time champion) and Josef Newgarden (Series champion).
The NTT INDYCAR SERIES is considered to be racing faster and closer than any other form of motorsport – with a victory margin of less than one second and a speed of up to 240 MPH.
Drivers of the NTT INDYCAR SERIES drive single-seater cars with a 2.2-liter, twin-turbocharged, direct-injection V-6 engine optimised to run at 12,000 rpm with an estimated 500-700 horsepower engine. A new feature for this season is Aeroscreen, a safety innovation for enhanced driver cockpit protection. Mandated by INDYCAR, the safety feature is a ballistic, canopy-like windscreen anchored by titanium framework encompassing the cockpit.
The first NTT INDYCAR SERIES 2020 race broadcast exclusively on beIN SPORTS HD7, Genesys 300, will take place on Sunday 7 June at the Texas Motor Speedway at 3:00 Mecca Time (GMT +3) live and with Arabic and English commentaries.
Commenting on beIN SPORTS’ latest exciting acquisition, Jonathan Whitehead, head of Sports for beIN MENA, said: “As live sport return across the world, beIN is delighted to be at the heart of all the action, having secured the media rights to the NTT INDYCAR SERIES for the next two seasons in 24 NENA territories. beIN SPORTS will exclusively broadcast these thrilling races to its fans and subscribers in the region, demonstrating our commitment to becoming the leading global sport and entertainment network with such a diverse portfolio of premium global events.”
NTT INDYCAR SERIES joins the long list of premium sports rights of SPORTS, from the UEFA Champions League to the English Premier League and other world-renowned competitions, with many re-starting this summer following the coronavirus crisis.
beIN maintains and operates in 43 countries worldwide, including 24 countries across the MENA region. With 4 K and Full HD satellite broadcasts, beIN experience is also available on mobile, tablet, computer and other home devices via beIN CONNECT.
