Ipsos, the world’s third largest research agency, has named Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) as one of 10 Qatari organisations that have been most active in fighting the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
A number of in-depth studies have recently been conducted by the French market research and consulting firm to understand how the Coronavirus outbreak affected the attitudes , behaviors and future expectations of consumers and global markets.
In the MENA region, eight countries, including Qatar, have been selected to track public sentiment and behaviour patterns in the light of the Coronavirus outbreak.
Through online interviews, Ipsos asked the nationals and residents of Qatar which companies they thought best participated in supporting the country during the current crisis of COVID-19.
The top 10 choices were as follows: Al Meera, Doha Bank, Ministry of Public Health (MOPH), Ooredoo, Qatar Airways, Qatar Charity (QC), Qatar Foundation (QF), Qatar National Bank (QNB), Qatar Petroleum (QP) and QRCS.
According to the report, the successful Coronavirus control efforts of QRCS have been highlighted in a number of research studies by Ipsos and other multinational companies concerned with the pandemic.
The surveys focused on eight criteria: (1) a positive response to public fears and concerns; (2) attitudes towards government, the media and health organisations; (3) counter-measures; (4) changes in lifestyles and social behavior; (5) a reduction in the impact on citizens; (6) changes in purchase and shopping habits; (7) consumer expectations from companies; and (8) short-term and long-term outcomes.
In the context of its public information strategy, QRCS launched a nationwide campaign to raise awareness about protective measures, including lectures, social media messages and mass media materials.
More than 18,000 volunteers have been deployed to help others. They can be found in shopping malls, provide guidance and advice to consumers on wearing masks and gloves, and maintain social distance. Some are currently engaged in the management of quarantine facilities, the distribution of masks and gloves to the public, and the disinfection of streets and districts.
Under the supervision of the Supreme Committee for Crisis Management, QRCS operates quarantine facilities, health centres and ambulance services, all of which contribute to the fight against Coronavirus.
During the Holy month of Ramadan, QRCS distributed as many as 100,000 food baskets to vulnerable families in order to mitigate the impact of the lockdown. Medical and hygiene supplies have also been donated to health facilities, including masks and sanitisers.
With its professionally developed and implemented strategy, QRCS has contingency plans to deal effectively with the Coronavirus crisis, taking into account all possible scenarios for mobilising resources and ensuring sustainability.
