Qatar University Foundation Programme is collaborating with the Office of the Assistant Undersecretary for Educational Affairs at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education to prepare female high school students for university experience.
Al Qabas Programme 2020 will be held from 7-11 June 2020 by QU’s Foundation Programme, under the Deanship of General Studies, according to a statement.
The Al Qabas 2020 programme will take place via virtual learning platforms for distance learning in the light of the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) and the QU’s decision to turn to distance learning in order to ensure the student safety.
The objective of the programme is to raise awareness among female high school students about the different skills needed for university life through a variety of educational and virtual sessions offered in English and to develop their English and math skills, thus paving the way for enrolment in STEM colleges and enhancing students’ chances of success in their future colleges.
Al Qabas Programme also includes guidance sessions on admission to and availability of STEM colleges, the College of Medicine and QU services. By introducing students to study skills and to test strategies, students will be better equipped for their educational journey. Upon completion of the program, the participation certificates will be awarded to students who have attended all of the program sessions.
The programme was launched in its first edition in the academic year 2018-2019 in collaboration with MoEHE. Forty-two Qatari high school students from grades 10 and 11 participated, along with 24 FP faculty and staff members.
