Vienna: Austria is doing things a little different to other countries and restarting its football with the Cup final between mighty RB Salzburg and second division Austria Lustenau on Friday. Originally scheduled for May 1, the match in Klagenfurt will be played behind closed doors because of the coronavirus pandemic and comes ahead of Tuesday’s restart of league action which is also without fans. Other countries are restarting their leagues ahead of the Cup, such as Germany where the Bundesliga kicked off again in mid-May and the cup final is scheduled for July 4, a week after the league finale. “It is a little strange to have such an important game right at the start. But it is exciting and we are ready for a tough fight because we expect a strong opponent,” Salzburg coach Jesse Marsch said. Austrian Football Federation (OeFB) president Bernhard Neuhold said the match will be a challenge in all aspects as social distancing rules apply, meaning players should not celebrate goals and/or the title wildly with plenty of contact.
