Amman Jordan will open mosques and churches for weekly prayers from next week, the government said on Thursday, as the kingdom gradually lifts restrictions imposed to stem the spread of the coronavirus.
Muslims will be allowed to perform Friday noon prayers at mosques from June 5 and churches will open on Sundays for weekly services.
People aged over 50 and those suffering from any pre-existing health conditions were asked to stay away.
After weeks of lockdown Jordan has been gradually relaxing restrictions. Public employees began to return to offices this week.
Restaurants remain closed, however, and travel between cities is still not allowed. A partial curfew between 7 pm and 8 am (1600 to 0500 GMT) remains in place. (DPA)
