The Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani has directed to send urgent medical assistance to Ukraine, Moldova and Ethiopia as a support from Qatar for the efforts of the friendly countries in combating the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
In implementation of the directives of HH the Amir, a cargo plane loaded with 8.5 tonnes of urgent medical assistance provided by Qatar through the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) arrived in Moldova on Tuesday.
The medical assistance was received by Minister of the Interior of Moldova Pavel Fico, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration (MFAEI) Dumitru Sokolan, Assistant Minister of Health, Labor and Social Protection Alexandro H, and Acting Charge d’Affaires at the Embassy of Qatar to Moldova HE Hamad bin Rashid al Athba.
On this occasion, the Minister of Interior of Moldova thanked the Amir for providing medical assistance at this difficult time, noting that it will help the Moldovan government to face the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic.
For his part, the Acting Charge d’Affaires at the Embassy of Qatar to Moldova affirmed that Qatar stands with the friendly Moldova and its people. He said the Qatari medical aid is aimed at supporting the Moldovan health sector to face the coronavirus pandemic.
Meanwhile, a cargo plane loaded with urgent medical aid provided by Qatar through QFFD arrived in Ethiopia to support the efforts of Ethiopia to face the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.
The aid shipment was received by Minister of Labor and Social Affairs of Ethiopia Dr Ergoge Tesfaye, Minister of State in the Ethiopian Ministry of Health Dr D Dujma, and Qatar’s Ambassador to Ethiopia HE Hamad bin Mohammed al Dosari.
