The Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) will conclude today (Wednesday) its Eid Al-Fitr celebrations, which lasted for four days, eliciting huge participation from the public through its website and social media accounts.
In line with the precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), Katara conducted the celebrations online in an innovative and fun way. The online events were successful in providing a holiday atmosphere for the participants, and the Katara website witnessed a record number of 132,000 visits on the first two days of the Eid holidays.
The programmes also included surprise events such as virtual fireworks, which evoked the memories of the fireworks Katara had orgnised in the previous years to celebrate festivals.
Katara has also ensured gifts and prizes for the online participants who register on its website. The winners of lucky draws will receive e-vouchers on WhatsApp. Eid gifts will
also be distributed to children staying home and in quarantine.
Katara is also conducting a photo and video contest for children. Children can send images and videos for the competition on the number 66011303 until May 30. Winning entries will be published on Katara’s social media accounts and the first five winners will receive exciting prizes.
