The makers of Pakistan’s blockbuster animated movie, The Donkey King, have released an inspirational anthem urging the general public to practice social distancing and play their part in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
The song titled ‘Darna nahin larna hai’ (don’t be afraid but fight) has been written by Aziz Jindani, the writer-director of The Donkey King, while it has been composed by Shuja Haider. Popular singer Syed Asrar Shah has rendered the vocals.
In an inspirational video that ends with the message, ‘Stay home, stay safe’, Mangu and cameos from other characters of the movie request people to keep an appropriate distance from each other while urging them to avoid going out of the house unnecessarily.
The Donkey King is an animated family comedy film in Urdu for children and “children at heart”. It was released in Pakistan on October 13, 2018. Produced by Geo Films and Talisman Studios, the movie has been released in cinemas across the world and has also been dubbed in many languages including Turkish, Ukrainian, Russian, Korean, Spanish, Basque, and Catalan.
The film features the voices of Afzal Khan alias Jan Rambo, Ismail Tara, Hina Dilpazeer, Ghulam Mohiuddin, Jawed Sheikh, Irfan Khoosat, Adeel Hashmi and Faisal Qureshi.
The Donkey King is the story of a dreamer, happy go lucky donkey called Mangu. A lion decides that a new king shall take on the reins of Azad Nagar when he retires. A donkey named Mangu is chosen as the king of Azad Nagar. The story traces Mangu’s extraordinary journey from a small town dhobhi ghat to a royal palace during which he rises, falls and then rises again to prove to the world that he may be born a donkey, but is not one. The Donkey King is a metaphorical story of the triumph of an underdog. The main objective of the film is to inspire children and adults alike to reach their full potential, regardless of the skills and talents they are born with.
