Hamad Medical Corporation’s (HMC) Hamad General Hospital (HGH) and Al Wakrah Hospital Emergency departments received 754 cases on Monday, the second day of Eid Al-Fitr.
According to an official, majority of the cases were related to gastrointestinal tract associated with change in food habits following Ramadan.
HGH attended to 539 cases, which included 364 males and 175 females, while Al Wakrah Hospital received 150 males and 65 females.
There were only 30 admissions in both hospitals as all cases ranged from mild to moderate without any critical situation.
The cases were not related to coronavirus.
Speaking to Qatar Tribune, HMC Consultant of Emergency Medicine, Medical Toxicologist and Vice-Chairman for Corporate Affairs of HMC Department of Emergency Medicine, Dr Galal Alessai, said that just like the on first day of Eid, there were no critical cases on Monday as well.
He said, “Monday was much better than Sunday with regard to the seriousness of the cases. Most of the cases were simple and there were only a few admissions. Most of the cases were related to gastrointestinal tract.”
According to Dr Alessai, there were only two or three cases involving surgery for appendicitis or stone extraction.
“There were no critical cases at all. Most of the cases were treated and went home. Some of the patients stayed in the hospital for a few hours for treatment and were discharged,” he said.
On the first day of Eid (Sunday), the Emergency departments of the two hospital received a total of 651 cases.
