Members of the Student Council at MES Indian School were sworn in for the academic year 2020-21 recently, at an investiture ceremony held on Zoom virtual platform.
The inductees included school appointees, secretaries of various clubs and house captains.
On the occasion, Principal Hameeda Kadar urged the Student Council members to foster leadership qualities to become promising leaders of tomorrow and advised them to uphold the core values of the school.
The newly-inducted student officials are: Toby James, head boy; Nandini Rajagopalan, head girl; Fahad Muhammed Sajid, Zohra Mahwish, head prefects; Maheswar Sunil, Lubna Haroon, Student Council secretaries; Derik Saldanha, Hafsa Naeem Chohan, Aansmaria Siby, campus correspondents; Alvin P Joy, Nihan Kadar, sports captains; Mohammed Rameez, Cyril Jiji Sebastian, Pranay Jiljith T, Sai Shiva Satwik M, Hibat Ali Ahmed, Amal Arif, Nikhitha A Abraham, Nidhi Bhatt, house captains; Sooraj Suresh, Gayathri Sivakumar, Gayana Sam Santhakumar, student editors; Muhammed Nayeem, Anas Mohammed Shoib, Akshara Sunil, library secretaries; Stanly Binu, photography secretary; and Jayasankar, Punit Pande, Anushka Sumesh and Arsha Krishnan Nair, cultural secretaries.
Head Boy Toby James led the oath-taking ceremony and reaffirmed the council’s dedication to fulfil its duties.
Dr Jayasree Dinesh Menon, vice-principal and head of Boys’ Section, and Annamma Shammy, vice-principal and head of Girls’ Section, felicitated the members of the Student Council.
Headmistress, heads of departments, teachers and students attended the virtual ceremony. The ICT Department at the school, under the guidance of Haroon, ensured the effective functioning of the digital meeting.
Rema Devi from the Department of English compered the programme.
Zohra Mahwish, head prefect, welcomed the gathering and Fahad Muhammed Sajid, head prefect, proposed a vote of thanks. Akbar Ali and Zeenath Jalal, discipline-in-charge of the Boys and Girls Sections, respectively, coordinated the event.
