The distribution is made to 1,500 families and 2,500 workers under the guidelines of the Shariah Committee headed by Sheikh Thaqeel bin Sayer al Shammar, in addition to the donation of clothing to 1,500 families.
Jassem al Kubaisi, director of the Zakat Fund, said: “The Zakat Fund at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs collects Zakat al-Fitr annually in cash and distributes to the deserving and needy already registered with the Zakat Fund.
He said the distribution would be done as per the Sunnah of Prophet PBUH before the Eid celebrations so that the beneficiaries could participate in the celebration with the rest of the country.
He said due to the ongoing pandemic situation, the ministry has already launched a three-month campaign to distribute food baskets to registered needy people at the Blessing Center.
