The first flight in the second phase of India’s repatriation mission, ‘Vande Bharat Mission’, left Doha for Kozhikode on Monday with 183 passengers on board.
A total of seven flights to different Indian airports have been scheduled in the second phase of repatriation.
Air India has provided air tickets to passengers travelling to Hyderabad in Telangana state on May 20, Vishakapatanam in Andhra Pradesh on May 20, and Kannur on May 19.
Air India Express will operate flights to Kochi in Kerala on May 21 and Bengaluru in Karnataka state on May 22.
Ticket bookings for India’s holy city of Gaya in Bihar scheduled for May 24 is under progress at a special counter opened by Air India at the Indian Cultural Centre.
More than 45,000 Indians have registered at the Indian embassy to travel back to India in the repatriation process.
According to the embassy guidelines, priority will be given to pregnant women, urgent medical cases, workers in distress, senior citizens, and people who are stranded in difficult situations.
The embassy has contacted the short-listed people for each flight directly through email/telephone.
Meanwhile, Indian carrier Indigo has begun ticket bookings to India. Indigo’s operation will commence on June 1.
