Qatar saw 582 people recovering from coronavirus (COVID-19) on Sunday, the highest daily recovery so far, bringing the total number of recoveries in the country to 4,370.
In a statement, the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) said 1,632 new confirmed COVID-19 cases reported in the last 24 hours, taking the total infected tally to 32,604.
In the last 24 hours, 18 cases were admitted to intensive care due to complications resulting from the infection, bringing the total number of cases receiving care in the ICU to 165.
The MoPH said the new cases are expatriate workers who were infected with the virus as a result of contact with individuals who were previously infected, in addition to recording new cases of infection among groups of workers in different regions.
Cases of infection have also increased among citizens and residents as a result of contact with infected family members who had been infected in the workplace or through visits and family gatherings, the MoPH said. The ministry said the high number of infections among citizens and residents is due to the lack of compliance by some with precautionary measures.
