New Delhi Former Indian prime minister Manmohan Singh was discharged from a hospital in New Delhi on Tuesday after being treated for chest pain, officials said.
Singh, 87, from the opposition Indian National Congress, was taken to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences late on Sunday.
“He is absolutely fine now and was discharged from our hospital this afternoon after treatment,” a hospital official said on condition of anonymity.
Media reports citing hospital sources said Singh had suffered an allergic reaction to a new medication and developed a fever.
He was also tested for COVID-19, the respiratory disease caused by the coronavirus, and his results had come out negative, the reports said.
Singh, was prime minister for 10 years until Congress was defeated by the Bharatiya Janata Party in 2014 and Narendra Modi took over as prime minister. (DPA)
