The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) has fixed the maximum selling price for vegetables and fruits until May 16, which can be renewed.
In a statement on Sunday, the MoCI said anyone found flouting the decision will be penalised and further action will be taken against him. As per the decision, all retail outlets are obliged to sell vegetables and fruits at the set price. “Each violator may be subject to the penalties stipulated in applicable laws, decision and regulations,” the ministry said. The ministry has urged the public to report non-compliance on its hotline 16001. (TNN)
