Qatar on Thursday recorded 918 new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19), taking the total infected cases to 18,890, the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) has announced.
In the last 24 hours, 216 people recovered from the virus, bring the total number of recoveries to 2,286.
In a statement, the MoPH said most of the new cases are expatriate workers who have been infected with the virus as a result of contact with individuals who have been previously infected. The new cases were also reported among groups of workers from different regions.
The other infected cases are citizens and residents who have contracted the virus from members of their families, who in turn had contracted the virus at their workplaces or other places.
All the new infected cases have been quarantined where they are receiving the necessary medical care. The ministry called on people to stay at home and not to go out unless absolutely necessary.
