The Doha Municipality, represented by the Health Control Department, has prepared a work plan that includes intensifying inspection campaigns on food establishments during the Holy Month of Ramadan ensuring that all institutions comply with the required health requirements.
The department inspectors, in partnership with the authorities concerned at the Ministry of Interior and Ministry Commerce and Industry, are conducting joint campaigns on food establishments in various regions of Doha.
In April, the Doha Municipality carried out 2,363 inspection visits to food establishments in various regions of Doha, which resulted in the closure of 33 of them for violating administrative decisions, for periods of five to 30 days.
The inspectors working at the checkpoints in the Industrial Area inspected about 15,000 food transport vehicles in April. Two of them were found to have guilty of violations for failure to comply with the health requirements during the transport of foodstuffs. Seized food items were destroyed immediately.
In April, the municipality examined 112,844 carcasses and destroyed 1,330 whole carcasses unfit for human consumption with partial destruction of 3,065 kilograms of meat. 37,525 kilograms of fish were examined and 81 kilograms of them were destroyed for not being suitable for human consumption.
