Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs Luigi Di Maio has thanked Qatar for donation two field hospitals with 500 beds each to Italy to contain the coronavirus pandemic.
The foreign minister expressed the gratitude in a tweet he shared on his Twitter handle.
In a statement on Tuesday, Italian Ambassador to Qatar HE Alessandro Prunas said, “I would like to join Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs Luigi Di Maio in his expression of gratitude to Qatar for its timely and generous donation of two field hospitals with a capacity of 500 beds each. It is a tangible gesture of friendship between the Italian and the Qatari people and a strong support to Italy’s efforts to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Moreover, this donation embodies the close bonds of cooperation between our Armed Forces. At a time when Italy and Qatar are cooperating in so many joint training programmes, including training of pilots, we are moved to see that the Qatari Air Force will transport this donation to Italy and that our women and men of the Armed Forces will work together once again for the installation of the two field hospitals.”
