OSLO: The Norwegian government has brought its coronavirus outbreak under control, Health Minister Bent Hoie said on Monday, while noting that it was too early to end restrictions aimed at curbing the pandemic.
The latest data indicated that each person infected with the virus was probably only passing it on to 0.7 others, on average. Before the introduction of lockdown measures, that figure was 2.5. “That means that the coronavirus epidemic has been brought under control,” Hoie said.
By Monday, Norway had registered 5,755 coronavirus infections and 59 deaths from COVID-19, the respiratory disease caused by the virus. (DPA)
