Seoul The number of daily new coronavirus infections in South Korea dropped below 50 for the first time since late February, health authorities said on Monday, with 47 new cases recorded on the previous day.
That number was down from 81 new cases a day earlier and brings the nation’s total infections to 10,284, according to the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Seoul.
Three more people died as a result of complications from Covid-19, the disease caused by the virus, bringing the nation’s death toll to 186.
The reporting shows the number of newly reported infections has “stabilized” at around 100 for the past three weeks.
A clear downward trend began in March, after peaking at the end of February with over 900 cases recorded in a day. (DPA)
