Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases jumped by 279 to 1,604 in Qatar on Sunday as 14 more people recovered from the virus, the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) has announced.
In a statement, the MoPH said so far 123 people have recovered from the virus.
Sadly, an 88-year-old Qatari citizen, who was suffering from several chronic diseases and bacterial infection in the blood, succumbed to the coronavirus. So far, coronavirus have claimed four lives in Qatar.
The MoPH said the deceased received intensive medical care upon his arrival at the hospital on Tuesday, March 3, and was given the necessary treatment and care, but his condition deteriorated resulting in his death on Sunday morning.
The MoPH extended condolences and sympathy to the family of the deceased.
The MoPH said new cases are now in quarantine and are receiving necessary medical care.
The MoPH said it conducted laboratory tests on 3,806 people to detect COVID-19 on Sunday. So far, a total of 35,757 tests have been conducted. “This is owing to the use of new laboratory techniques and increasing the number of laboratories being used. Work continues to increase the capacity of laboratories,” the MoPH said. (TNN)
