Qatar on Thursday saw 114 new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19), taking the total to 949, the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) has announced.
One more person also succumbed to the virus, taking the death toll to three in Qatar.
In a statement, the MoPH said some of the new cases are related to travellers who returned to Qatar from abroad and were subjected to quarantine upon arrival. Other new cases were in contact with positive cases in Qatar. All the newly-infected cases were put into quarantine and are receiving necessary medical care.
The MoPH said it conducted COVID-19 tests on 1,435 people on Thursday, bringing the total number of tests to 26,260 so far.
One more person recovered from the virus, taking the total recoveries to 72.
The MoPH announced the third COVID-19 death of an 85-year-old resident who was suffering from acute pneumonia. The deceased was admitted to intensive care immediately upon his diagnosis on Wednesday, and treatment and medical care was provided to him immediately. The ministry extended condolences and sympathy to the family of the deceased.
