The Qatari Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza, in cooperation and coordination with Qatar Fund for Development, will finance the employment of 100 medical personnel including doctors and nurses in the Gaza Strip as temporary employment for six months to cover the shortfall experienced by hospitals and health centres in the Gaza Strip to tackle the outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19).
Chairman of the Qatari Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza Ambassador Mohammed al Emadi said the process of employing medical personnel, including doctors and nurses, in the Gaza Strip will be carried out in cooperation with the relevant government agencies, headed by the Palestinian Ministry of Health. He pointed out that the project, which aims to support the Ministry of Health personnel in the Strip, comes within the grant of the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani to the Gaza Strip, at a value of $150 million. The Palestinian Ministry of Health had urged the international community to provide for its health requirements to tackle the coronavirus, explaining that Gaza medical teams are currently working with limited resources and capabilities and they are in need of urgent support and help.
