The Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) continues intensive inspection of food establishments in all municipalities across the country as part of its initiative under the slogan ‘Your safety is my safety’, within the framework of preventive and precautionary measures to limit the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19).
Around 27 volunteers from different age groups distributed to the work teams in all municipalities covered important food establishments targeted by the initiative. They received orientation in the method of technical inspection for food establishments, the health conditions that must be met, and the legal procedures to be followed in the event of any violation.
The campaign included inspection of all commercial complexes, establishments, food outlets and commercial stores in vital areas within the administrative boundaries of each of the municipalities – Doha, Al Rayyan, Al Wakrah, Al Shahaniya, Umm Salal, Al Dayeen, Al Shamal, Al Khor and Al Thakhira.
The volunteers participated with teams of inspectors in the process of monitoring and inspecting the food outlets where a large number of foodstuffs were inspected.
A number of the volunteers praised the efforts made during the campaigns to give them the opportunity to serve and the training they received in the methods of food control and inspection.
Abdullah Salem al Yafei, one of the volunteers in Al-Rayyan Municipality, said he participated in the campaigns to get acquainted with the stages of inspection of food establishments and methods of cleaning works, such as spraying and sterilisation of public places.
He praised those responsible for the campaigns for the opportunity they offered volunteer to serve the country during the crisis.
Mohammed Faleh al Hajri, a volunteer in Al-Rayyan Municipality, said he participated in the inspection of in a number of commercial and food shops in the region, where he benefited from the work team by identifying the health conditions that must be followed during shopping and choosing the right product such as production date, validity date and storage methods.
