Doha Municipality has carried out inspection of food establishments in various regions, resulting in the closure of 47 food outlets. As many as 132 notices were also issued for violation of Law No. 8 of 1990 on food regulation.
The violations included preparing food items in unhealthy conditions, running activities in violation of commercial licences and employing workers who did not have health certificates or having expired ones.
The officials, in cooperation with specialists from the Ministry of Public Health, distributed posters, brochures and educational publications on ways of Coronavirus (Covid-19) prevention and gave health instructions to workers in food establishments. Other municipalities also have implemented similar campaigns on restaurants, bakeries, stores, food establishments and local agricultural products selling yards, resulting in the closure of several outlets.
The campaigns also included spraying and sterilisation operations in some locations, in the context of ensuring the health and safety of the public. (QNA)
