The African Women’s Diplomatic Group has praised the precautionary measures taken by Qatar to prevent the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).
In a statement, President of African Women’s Diplomatic Group Anika Moosa, who is the spouse of the Ambassador of South Africa to Qatar, said the measures put in place by Qatar are exceptionally good.
“We write to commend the Government of Qatar for doing an exceptionally sterling job to keep the residents of Qatar safe during this trying time. We also want to appeal to our fellow residents for continued compliance with the government’s pronouncements on the corona virus pandemic,” she said.
The group applauded the government for putting in place policies and action plans to ensure the practice of social distancing and emphasise the need for good personal hygiene habits.
“We all know these are the key actions needed to stop the coronavirus from spreading and to flatten the curve of its infection. We also thank the government for the excellent care that has been provided to those who have been affected,” she continued.
The group also urged fellow residents to help one another. “Now, more than ever, is the time that we need to find our humanity and assist those in need, the best way possible, without compromising government’s guidelines for social distancing,” she said.
“We pray that Allah the Almighty takes away the coronavirus from the world; only Allah the Almighty can do it,” the statement added.
