The Ministry of Interior (MoI), represented by the General Directorate of Traffic, on Wednesday called on the public to use its e-services for the renewal of various documents related to vehicles.
The MoI has stopped technical examination of vehicles within the framework of the health and precautionary measures to contain the coronavirus (COVID-19) spread. However, the directorate emphasised that its patrols will continue to seize vehicles that violate technical specifications and conditions.
In a statement, the directorate said the total number of people benefited from the exemption of technical examination reached 11,575 until Sunday, while the number of people who renewed vehicle registrations on Metrash2 application during the period from March 19 to 23 reached to 8,361.
The directorate said vehicle owners can use the electronic services through Metrash2 or on the MoI website without going to the directorate.
The General Directorate of Traffic on Metrash2 offers more than 40 services related to driving licences, number plates, violations, traffic accidents, traffic certificates and other services.
Besides, Fahes Company, in cooperation with the directorate, launched on Sunday an initiative to exempt vehicles from technical examinations until further notice and to complete the procedures through Woqood application, in the framework of precautionary measures against coronavirus.
The directorate, in a statement, also pointed to the possibility of insuring vehicles through mobile applications and websites of insurance companies for the completion of vehicle ownership renewals.
