The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) has fixed the maximum selling price for vegetables and fruits at retail outlets until March 31, which can be renewed.
In a statement on Monday, the MoCI said anyone found flouting the decision will be penalised and further action will be taken against him.
As per the decision, all retail outlets are obliged to sell the vegetables and fruits at the set price.
Similarly, the MoCI has also set the price limits for 35 types of fish sold in the country.
The list, which set prices according to the size of the fish (small, medium and large), applies to all retail outlets across the country until March 31, which is subject to extension.
“Each violator may be subject to the penalties stipulated in applicable laws, decision and regulations,” the ministry said.
The ministry has urged the public to report non-compliance on its hotline 16001.
