Qatar Pharma is fully prepared to make a strategic stock of medicines for a period of six months to a year, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Qatar Pharma has said.
“These drugs must be used as medicines cannot be produced and stored for long periods,” Dr Ahmed al Sulaiti, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Qatar Pharma, told Qatar TV.
He said Qatar Pharma is currently producing drugs based on requests it receives.
Sulaiti said Qatar Pharma started manufacturing drugs in 2009 and exporting in 2010.
“Today, Qatar Pharma has 14 lines for producing medicines. There are plans to open 4 new lines for the manufacture of medicines,” he said, stressing that medicines made in Qatar are of highest
standards.
Currently, Qatar Pharma products are being exported to many countries such as Kuwait, Oman, Jordan, Iraq, Sudan, Tunisia and others.
“We are currently producing intravenous solutions, solutions for dialysis, antibiotics, antipyretic drugs, eye drops and many skin ointments and other medicines that the Qatari market needs,” he said.
There’s a need to have a strategic stock of medicines to deal with any emergency circumstances, he said.
Qatar Pharma has a three-year contract with Sidra Hospital for supplying medicines. There are also contracts with large hospitals in the country such as Al-Ahli Hospital, Turkish Hospital and Al-Emadi Hospital.
