Qatari Investors Group (QIG) celebrated National Sport Day by organising a number of sports activities involving staff and partners.
This year’s celebrations took place at Lusail, Al Wakra and Umm Bab, where employees flocked to enjoy a day of activities in a competitive yet relaxed atmosphere.
Teams from group subsidiaries competed in cricket, football and badminton.
In the cricket tournament, Al Khalij Cement Company won the final by beating Qatari Investors Group Marine Services team.
The finalists played teams from Qatari Investors Group, Europcar and Qatar Security Systems Company.
The Mediterranean Shipping Company team won the final of the badminton tournament by beating Europcar at Al-Wakra.
In addition, QIG’s senior management participated in football matches arranged in the labour compound at Umm Bab.
Through these activities, QIG aims to encourage its employees to exercise and embrace healthy habits, contributing to the reduction of health risks associated with an inactive lifestyle, a main objective of National Sport Day, said the company in a press statement.
Raja Assili, Chief Eexecutive Officer of QIG, said: “Our group has the tradition of celebrating this special occasion in cooperation with local partners to demonstrate its steadfast commitment to promoting a healthy society, a key pillar of the Qatar National Vision 2030.
These activities also provide our employees from different companies an opportunity to mix outside of the workplace environment.”
