Bangkok: A shopping centre in north-eastern Thailand that last weekend was the scene of the country’s deadliest mass shooting reopened its doors to the public on Thursday.
Large crowds turned out at Terminal 21 mall in the north-eastern province of Nakhon Ratchasima for a merit-making ceremony by 219 monks who chanted prayers. Many shops offered discounts to attract shoppers back to the airport-themed shopping centre in the afternoon.
Restaurants also provided food and refreshments in the hopes of boosting morale in the north-eastern province also known historically as Korat or Nakhon Ratchasima that has a population of about 250,000. (DPA)
