Qatar Charity’s (QC) offices worldwide marked the 2020 Qatar National SportDay with various sports activities and physical exercises.
The events aimed to raise awareness of the importance of sports and physical activities in maintaining and improving the overall health and fitness of individuals and societies, and reduce the risk of many chronic diseases.
The activities witnessed the attendance and participation of many Qatari ambassadors, members of the diplomatic corps, local officials and a large number of orphans sponsored by Qatar Charity in Bangladesh, Pakistan, Albania and Gaza.
In Bangladesh, Qatar Charity participated in the celebration organised by the Qatar’s embassy on the National Sports Day under the patronage of Ambassador of Qatar to Bangladesh HE Ahmed Muhammad al Dhimi. The event, which included various types of sport activities, was attended by many members of the Arab and foreign diplomatic corps in the country, in addition to the participation of more than 4,000 persons sponsored by Qatar Charity.
In Pakistan, Qatar Charity’s office organised a sport demonstration for sponsored orphans to change the atmosphere of their daily academic routine with joyful activities and recreational events. More than 60 sponsored students along with their mothers participated in the event. The participants took part in tennis, cricket, soccer, skipping rope, tug of war, puzzle games, jumping and ballooning.
In Tirana, the capital of Albania, more than 600 students sponsored by Qatar Charity participated in the celebration organised on the Sports Day. The event was attended by Ambassador of Qatar to Albania HE Ambassador Ali Hamad al Marri, staff of the embassy, Mayor of Tirana Erion Veliaj and representatives of many embassies.
At the end of the Qatar National Sport Day celebration programme, Qatar Charity distributed gifts and prizes to the participants.
Qatar Charity’s office in the Gaza Strip organised various activities to celebrate the Sport Day, with the participation of 150 sponsored orphans to promote the culture of physical activities among children. On the occasion, Qatar Charity held many activities, such as a football match, races and drawing workshops.
The orphans along with their families expressed their delight at participating in the Qatar National Sport Day’s activities, thanking the people of Qatar for supporting them.
Qatar Charity has also took part in various sport activities such as walking, physical exercise and a football match organised by Qatar University (QU) on the 2020 Qatar National Sports Day.
Qatar Charity’s participation in sport activities aims to contribute to promoting the culture of sports and raising awareness about the importance of physical exercise to build a healthy society, as it attaches importance to health development as an essential pillar of local development.
