THE Ambassador of Hungary to Qatar HE Barnabas Fodor has praised Qatar for dedicating a day to sports in order to promote a healthy lifestyle in the country.
In his message on the occasion of National Sport Day, to be held on Tuesday, the ambassador, who himself prefers a bicycle to a car to go to his office during winter, said he was very impressed with Qatar’s efforts to promote sports as a healthy way of life.
He also lauded Qatar’s initiatives to build parks and expand green areas and cycling lanes on roads, and for the leadership’s concern for people’s health.
While encouraging people to adopt an active lifestyle and take part in some sport, Fodor said: “Here in Doha, we are very fortunate to have so many indoor and outdoor sports facilities. And despite the long summer during which it’s difficult to use outdoor sports facilities, one can use them at least five months in a year.”
He said that people who spend too much time in their cars, waiting in the traffic and sitting on their desk, must grab every opportunity to move.
The envoy said an active life keeps one energetic, and keeps one’s spirits high and contributes to one’s performance at work. He also exhorted his compatriots to embrace sports as part of their lives.
