THE German Embassy in Qatar observed International Holocaust Remembrance Day on Monday.
The staff of the Embassy observed a minute of silence commemorating the victims of the Holocaust and flags were flown at half-mast.
On the occasion, German Ambassador to Qatar HE Hans-Udo Muzel said, “Seventy-five years ago today, the Nazi death camp of Auschwitz was liberated. More than one million people were murdered in this camp alone. In total, six million people were murdered in German extermination camps during the genocide of European Jews called ‘Holocaust’.”
He added, “It is Germany’s very special responsibility, that the atrocity of the Holocaust is known and remembered everywhere.”
