THE latest in haute couture, bridal gowns, ready-to-wear eveningwear and bespoke menswear and accessories were showcased during the inaugural show of Shop Qatar 2020’s runway events held at Al Hazm on Thursday.
The event, which kicked off the series of runway shows for the 4th edition of Shop Qatar, featured original creations from top regional designers.
The exciting showcase of regional talents started with a parade of fabulous creations of celebrated Lebanese designer Naja Saade. He is associated with a number of stars who wore his designs at different events.
Speaking to the local media on the sidelines of the event, Saade expressed delight in showcasing his collection in Qatar which, he said, were inspired mainly by the spirit and beauty of a woman. The show was his second event in Qatar. Similarly, he lauded the thriving fashion scene in the country.
“I am seeing a lot of improvements in the fashion industry in Qatar and Qatari women know about fashion and what suits them. That is why there is a lot of competition here and we, as designers, have to do a lot of new things to improve ourselves in this market,” Saade said.
The runway show also featured the equally-impeccable creations of Ahmed Talfeet, Laith Maalof, Amgad al Adab, Saeed Malass and Toufic al Hasan. It also includes creations by Turkish label Baris.
Shop Qatar 2020 fashion events will also feature the first-ever Kids Fashion Show to be held at Al Mirqab Mall on January 24. Also on the same date, renowned Lebanese designer Nicolas Jebran will make his Qatar debut in a solo show at Al Hazm.
Other fashion events to watch out for are Designed by Qatar on January 25 and Haute and Couture & Evening Wear on January 26.
Collections from leading brands The Row, Avaro Figlio, Alexander Terekhov, Racheal Gilbert, Dice Kayek, Blumarine, Loriz Azzaro, Hrabal Gurong will be modelled on January 26. The runway events will wrap up with a show of China’s most influential fashion innovators on January 29.
