THE EU Heads of Mission in Qatar has welcomed the new legislation abolishing exit permit requirement for workers not covered by the amended labour law, according to a German Embassy press release on Wednesday.
It said: “The EU Heads of Mission in Qatar welcome the decision taken by the Qatari authorities to remove the requirement for exit permits for most migrant workers, including domestic workers, workers in government and public institutions, workers employed in the oil and gas sector and workers employed in maritime or agricultural companies. We commend that domestic workers will also benefit from this new regulation, thus improving their situation. We appreciate the continued commitment of the Qatari authorities and MADLSA to its labour reform agenda.”
