A cold spell is expected to affect the country from Sunday and is likely to last for several days, according to the Qatar Meteorology Department (QMD). In a statement issued on Wednesday, the QMD attributed the possible cold spell to an extension of a high pressure system over the region accompanied by northwesterly fresh to strong wind especially on Sunday and Monday.
Maximum temperatures expected to drop during the cold spell ranging between 14 to 17°C and the minimum between 5 to 12°C across the country. Wind speeds are expected to range between 15 to 25 kt with gusts exceeding 30 kt inshore and reaching 40 kt offshore causing blowing dust and poor visibility below 3 km in some areas.
The QMD has urged all to take extra care, avoid marine activities as well as to follow latest updates through it’s official social media accounts. (QNA)
