The Shura Council chaired by Speaker HE Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid al Mahmoud on Monday referred a draft law on setting minimum wages for workers and domestic workers to the Legal and Legislative Affairs Committee to study it and submit a report.
As per the draft law, a Minimum Wages Committee shall be established at the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs. The committee’s formation, system of work and rewards shall be determined by a Cabinet decision, based on the proposal of the Minister of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs.
The committee shall be responsible for studying and reviewing the minimum wages for workers in accordance with the controls stipulated in the draft law.
The Shura Council also approved a draft law regarding the diplomatic and consular corps after it discussed the Internal and External Affairs Committee’s report on it.
The speaker also briefed the Shura Council members on his meeting with a delegation from Libyan Parliament.
