The Shura Council has discussed a draft law amending some provisions of Law No 21 of 2015 regulating entry, exit and residence of expatriates. The council referred the draft law to the Internal and External Affairs Committee for study and to report on it to the council.
At its weekly meeting on Monday under the chairmanship of Speaker HE Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid al Mahmoud, the Shura Council reviewed the memo of the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers (Cabinet) regarding the measures taken by the Council of Ministers on the Shura Council’s recommendations related to traffic accidents in Qatar.
Upon the recommendations of the Shura Council, the Cabinet decided to form a committee headed by a representative from the Ministry of Interior with membership of representatives from the National Tourism Council, the Ministry of Transport and Communications, the Public Works Authority and Qatar Petroleum.
The committee will put in place an integrated plan to develop the Sealine area, improve the level of traffic safety in it and reduce risks of accidents there, while studying the requirements and the means necessary to achieve this.
The committee will submit a report and will give its recommendations to the Minister of Interior to present the report before the Council of Ministers.
The Shura Council also reviewed the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers’ memo regarding the measures taken by the Council of Ministers on the recommendation of the Shura Council related to a draft law on the concession granted to Qatar Fuel Company (Woqod) for marketing, selling, transporting, and distributing gas and petroleum products.
The recommendation included the necessity of unifying standard specifications to obtain a fuel station licence at the end of the concession period.
The Shura Council thanked and appreciated the government for interest and response to its recommendations and appreciated the measures taken in this regard.
