In a major initiative to encourage private firms in Qatar to promote cultural activities in the country, Qatar Chamber on Wednesday signed an agreement with Katara Cultural Village.
Aimed at strengthening cooperation between cultural and economic sectors of the country, the agreement will see Qatar Chamber encouraging companies and institutions to support cultural activities being held at Katara Cultural Village.
Signed by Qatar Chamber Director-General Saleh bin Hamad al Sharqi and Katara General Manager Khalid bin Ibrahim al Sulaiti, the agreement also seeks to join hands in advancing the cultural movement in ‘Katara’ that brings together creative and educated people from across the world.
One of the leading tourism destinations in Qatar and a key component of the government strategy to promote cultural activities in the country, Katara is on course to launch several new cultural and commercial projects by the end of 2021.
Signing the agreement with the Qatar Chamber will play a vital role in drawing commercial institutions and companies to contribute to supporting events and activities being held at Katara, Sulaiti said.
“This partnership represents a role model of cooperation between cultural and economic sectors. This agreement will prove beneficial for both the sectors as promotion of cultural activities, events and festivals will contribute to enriching the economy, industry and tourism sectors in the country. It will have a positive impact on the sustainable development of the country,” Sulaiti said.
Katara has succeeded in gaining the trust of families and the community as a preferred destination over the years, he said adding that it has become a premier choice for businesses and establishments to hold their conferences, forums, and seminars.
“The increasing number of visitors speaks for itself and the growing number of audiences attending shows and activities are also a clear indication of the role we play. This agreement will further enhance our position a cultural hub in the country,” Sulaiti said.
Commenting on the agreement, Sharqi said, “Qatar Chamber has always taken lead in ensuring the overall development of Qatar. We will encourage the private sector to participate in cultural activities and events. It is the social responsibility of companies to support Katara in preserving and promoting the cultural heritage of Qatar in particular and the world in general,” he said.
Lauding Katara as one of the largest multiple cultural projects in Qatar, he said the private companies in Qatar must come forward to offer all sorts of cultural services to local and multinational audiences.
“Katara is a place where people from across the world visit to get acquainted with various cultures through events, festivals and exhibitions it hosts. The support of private sector will further strengthen Katara’s activities that appeal to all categories of the community,” he said.
