Akash’s superb all-round display fired Tusker Club to a pulsating three-run victory over Firox Unit in a Premier Division match at the QCA T20 Cricket Tournament at the West Bay Complex.
Batting first, Tusker Club were bolstered by Akash, who contributed 41 off 39 balls in his team’s total of 139 for eight. Shakir chipped in a valuable 28 in 17 balls. Akash struck two sixes and four boundaries, while Shakir’s knock had two fours and as many sixes.
Ehsan (three for 20) and Saleem (two for 27) caused the main damage to Tusker Club, who however hit back the rivals hard, with man of the match Akash grabbing three wickets for just four runs. Prem snared two wickets for 24 as Firox Unit could respond with 136 for nine.
Off the final ball, Firox Unit needed five runs to win but they could get just one run and Tusker Club completed the exciting roller-coaster victory. Waqas made 36 off 38 balls with five boundaries.
Warriors Club thrashed Doha Falcons Club by a huge 168 runs after Imal and Andre blasted century to set up a gigantic 268-run target for the opponents.
Imal cracked a flurry of big shots and his 109 not out off 53 balls contained three sixes and 14 boundaries, while Andre hammered four sixes and 10 fours to post 100 in 48 balls.
As expected, Doha Falcons could not cope up with the run pressure and collapsed at 99 in 18.3 overs. Owais and Kushal shared six wickets. Imal was aptly declared the man of the match.
In the third and last Premier Division match, which turned out to be a run-fest, Galfar Al Misnad got the better of Commerical Bank Qatar by 15 runs. Khurram Shahzad clobbered eight sixes and five fours to collect 109 not out in 64 balls, which took the winners to 185 for four.
Muhammad Tanveer’s 43 with three sixes and two fours in 30 balls was another notable contribution for Galfar Al Misnad. Awais Malik got 18 in 13 balls with a four.
Zaheer kept CBQ on the track but his departure at 100 derailed the chase and the bank men could manage only 170. Zaheer’s impressive 63-ball knock was studded with four sixes and 11 fours. Qamar made 36 with four boundaries before getting run out.
Rashed’s 29-ball 62 not out lifted Bangladesh Seniors to a fine 45-run victory against Warriors Sports in a Division A match. Rashed smacked five sixes and two fours in his cameo, while Titu added 29 with a six and two fours off 19 balls. Shan picked three wickets for 28.
Warriors Sports were stopped at 130 for seven by Jiku and Rifat, who dismissed two players each. Shahid top-scored with 37, while Sadiq’s 36 had two sixes and two fours.
