Qatar University (QU) Foundation Program organised the 4th Annual International Conference and Exhibition on English Language Teaching under the theme ‘Critical Thinking in Language Curriculum in the 21st Century’, at QU’s Ibn Khaldoun Hall recently.
Twenty-six teachers from the MES Indian School attended the conference. Jency George from the Department of English at the school conducted a workshop on ‘Classroom Management Styles and Strategies’.
The conference drew delegates from across Qatar and the Gulf region. Proposals of papers, panel discussions, workshops, teaching ideas and tips were arranged in the following categories: critical thinking, learner autonomy, learner motivation, practical ideas in the classroom, error correction techniques, task-based learning, action research, classroom management, testing and assessment, mobile learning, technology in the classroom and professional development.
Latest and proven teaching approaches in teaching contexts were shared among the delegates. There were also exhibitors, especially reputable publishers from the Gulf region as well as others offering educational services in Qatar and beyond. English Language teachers at all levels of instruction came together to share their research findings and current trends in the language classrooms.
