The Qualification and Training Unit at the Security Committee of the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (SC) on Tuesday celebrated the graduation of 184 officers in three fields – bronze level programme, security sense programme, security and safety programme – as part of the training plan in preparation for the World Cup 2022.
The graduation ceremony was attended by head of the competition facilities security unit of the Security Committee Major-General Ali Mohammed al Rashid and head of the National Command Center (NCC), head of the command and control unit of the Security Committee Major-General Khalifa Abdullah al Nuaimi and a number of directorates and officers from the Ministry of Interior and the Lekhwiya Force.
The bronze level programme for ensuring the security of sporting events graduated 95 officers from different departments of the Ministry of Interior, Lekhwiya Force and the Qatar Armed Forces. The graduates received a high level of comprehensive qualification in the field of human rights, the management of major events and the management of sports crowds.
The programme for bronze level security leaders, which was accredited internationally by the British Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM), contributed to enhancing the participants’ capabilities to interact with audiences from different countries, customs and traditions to become bronze leaders in the sports stadiums.
The officers will join those graduated in 2018, most of whom participated in security missions in sports tournaments this year, including the World Athletics Championships, the 24th Arabian Gulf Cup, and the World Club Cup.
Meanwhile, 19 officers from various security units participated in the security sense training programme. They were prepared as trainers through the best programmes and courses, in cooperation with specialised agencies, including the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Turkish police security department.
The third programme graduated 70 safety and security trainers in sports stadiums for officers and individuals and 30 female trainers who specialised in training on safety and security principles in sports stadiums in accordance with the requirements of FIFA and the international community.
This programme has received international accreditation from the British High Field Foundation, which is responsible for granting recognition to European sports fields.
The trainers participated in training 1,333 police and security personnel who took upon themselves the tasks of securing the stadiums in the sport tournaments hosted recently by the country.
Deputy Head of the Security Committee’s Qualification and Training Unit Abdulrahman al Suwaidi stressed that the unit’s efforts are aimed at achieving the highest levels of excellence and success in securing international sporting and mass events in Qatar.
He pointed out that the outcomes of those efforts were evident in the success of the 24th Arabian Gulf Cup and 2019 FIFA Club World Cup.
During the program they received training courses in security and safety leadership, FIFA regulations, bronze command skills, crowd management, major accident response and FIFA human rights, adding that the members of the program participated in a number of practical exercises and participated in sports events, where they all work in the fields of securing competition and non-competition facilities for the 2022 World Cup.
In press statements, Head of the Security Committee’s Qualification and Training Unit Major Fahd al Subaie said the Committee’s training programmes have won recognition from international partners, including FIFA, the British Police, the Spanish Police, the Portuguese Police, the Dutch Police and the Russian Police.
